Which Bushnell Golf Rangefinder is the best?
Bushnell Pro XE
1. The Bushnell Pro XE was released in February 2019 with many new features including slope with elements (compensates distances for slope, temperature and barometric pressure), visual target lock confirmation and a built-in magnet. The Bushnell Pro XE is the best Bushnell golf rangefinder because it is the first rangefinder from any company to adjust distances for slope, temperature and barometric pressure (which will give you more accurate target distances) and include a built-in magnet for securely attaching the device to the golf cart and it also comes with a 7X magnification power (highest magnification power of any any Bushnell golf rangefinder which gives it the clearest and brightest display) and 500 yard range to flags (longest of any golf rangefinder currently on the market). The only other rangefinder with a 7X magnification power is the Precision Golf NX9 Pro Slope and the only rangefinders with a 450 yard range to flags is the Bushnell Pro X2 and Nikon COOLSHOT Pro Stabilized. It is also the first rangefinder from any company to have both a vibration and visual confirmation after the device locks onto a target and it also has a red LED display (great for low light conditions) and a waterproof metal housing that is really durable. It also has an external slope on/off indicator on the side of the device that consists of a logo that you can slide to the left or right. By turning off the slope compensation technology, the position of the logo will tell tournament organizers that the device complies with their rules of not using slope compensation during a tournament. Like other Bushnell golf rangefinders, the Pro XE includes JOLT Technology causes the device to emit short vibrating bursts to tell you that the PinSeeker Technology has locked onto the target.
Bushnell Pro X2
2. The Bushnell Pro X2 was the predecessor to the Bushnell Pro XE. The Pro X2 was released in January 2017 and it was universally hailed as the best golf rangefinder at that time. Even though it was released several years ago, there are not too many golf rangefinders that are better than this one. The Pro X2 has a 450 yard range to flags, 1300 yard range to highly reflective objects, red LED display and waterproof metal housing. It was the first Bushnell rangefinder to come with a red LED display and waterproof metal housing. Even thought it does not have the range, slope with elements, and built-in magnet of the Pro XE, the Pro X2 is a great rangefinder that will give you fast and accurate distance readings for a cheaper price than the Pro XE.
Bushnell Tour V5 Shift
3. The Bushnell Tour V5 Shift golf rangefinder was released in January 2020 and it is the newest Bushnell rangefinder. However, it is not an upgrade for the Bushnell Pro XE. It is still the best Bushnell golf rangefinder for the money because it is affordable and has many of the most popular golf rangefinder features including slope adjustment and vibration and visual flag lock confirmation. This rangefinder is meant for people who are on a budget and just want an accurate rangefinder with a really clear display. Both the Bushnell Pro XE and Tour V5 Shift have slope but only the Pro XE has Elements compensation. The Pro XE has a range of 500 yards to flags while the Tour V5 has a shorter range of 400 yards. The Pro XE has a 7X magnification power while the Tour V5 has a lower 6X magnification power. The Pro XE is IPX7 waterproof while the Tour V5 is IPX6 water resistant. This device is about 20% cheaper than the Pro XE but has 6X magnification, 400 yard range to flags, and does not compensate for temperature and air pressure or have a built-in magnet or red LED display like the Pro XE does.
Bushnell Hybrid
4. Bushnell added to their reputation of adding innovative features to their golf rangefinders by making the Bushnell Hybrid the first golf rangefinder to come with a GPS. The Bushnell Hybrid was released in April 2018. It will display the laser distances right next to the GPS-provided ‘Front’ and ‘Back’ distances and it also has a 400 yard range to flags. On the side of the device is an exterior GPS display that will give you the front, center and back distances of the green along with up to 4 hazard distances per hole. The GPS is also preloaded with over 36,000 course maps from over 30 countries. There are two buttons on both sides of the GPS display that allow you to use it like you would a golf GPS watch. This device requires two battery sources: CR2 lithium battery for the laser and USB port from your laptop for the GPS. However, a major problem and a deal breaker for many golfers is that the Bushnell Hybrid does not come with slope compensation.
Bushnell Tour V4 Shift
5. The Bushnell Tour V4 Shift was released in March 2017. It came with slope compensation, external slope on/off indicator, 400 yard range to flags, 1000 yard range to highly reflective objects, and 5x magnification power. There are many recently released rangefinders that have a higher magnification power and longer range to this rangefinder including the Bushnell Tour V5 Shift and Bushnell Pro XE and many other useful features so there is no need to get this rangefinder. It was discontinued by Bushnell so it will be hard to get this product brand new. Your best best is to get a used one on eBay.
