My Review of the TecTecTec VPRO500 S Golf Rangefinder
The TecTecTec VPRO500S golf rangefinder was released to the market in March 2015. It came out after the TecTecTec VPRO500S but before the TecTecTec ULT X. In terms of performance it is not as good as the VPRO DLXS or ULT X.
If you want to know more about the differences between the TecTecTec VPRO500S, VPRO DLXS and ULT X, then please look at this article: TecTecTec VPRO500S vs TecTecTec ULT X.
The TecTecTec VPRO500S rangefinder does not have all of the features found in the Blue Tees Series 3 Max and Series 2 Pro golf rangefinders such as vibration after flag lock and a built-in magnet. However, the TecTecTec VPRO500S is still an affordable golf rangefinder that uses slope compensation to give you accurate measurements just in case there are elevation changes.
The TecTecTec VPRO500S golf rangefinder comes with crystal-clear lenses. The clarity and sharpness of the lenses allow greater distances to be measured more accurately. The lenses are fully multi-coated and have a 6x magnification with a 7° field of view. The rotating eyepiece can be adjusted to enhance the focus to meet the needs of people who are either nearsighted or farsighted.
The VPRO500S delivers fast and extremely accurate measurements right down to the decimal and Slope Mode which is a great benefit to have when hitting down into valleys or up into elevations. Slope Mode can help you select the correct club number to accommodate the steepness in the land and ultimately help to lower your handicap. It has Target Lock Technology that makes it much easier to lock onto a target even wit shaky hands.
The VPRO500S is durable and built to last. Its very lightweight at just 6.52 ounces and compact at 4.09 x 2.83 x 1.61 inches, ergonomic, and rain resistant. It comes fully equipped with a premium shock-resistant protective case with a zipper and quick release closures. The included CR-2 lithium battery will last for many months. Your purchase will also include a wrist strap, microfiber cleaning cloth, and a pdf instruction manual.
The TecTecTec DLXS has a longer range to flags and hazards than the TecTecTec VPRO500S. The TecTecTec VPRO500S has the shortest measurement range to flagsticks, trees, hazards and bunkers of any TecTecTec golf rangefinder. The TecTecTec VPRO500S has a 150 yard range to flagsticks which is shorter than the 200 yard range of the VPRO DLXS and 450 yard range of the ULT X.
The TecTecTec ULT X has a longer range to hazards than the VPRO500S and VPRODLXS. The TecTecTec VPRO500S has a 540 yard range to hazards but the TecTecTec VPRO DLXS has a 600 yard range to hazards and the TecTecTec ULT X has a 1000 yard range to hazards.
The TecTecTec VPRO500S has a rainproof body like every other TecTecTec rangefinder which means can only tolerate a light shower. It has the latest technology which enables it to make more accurate measurements than the other TecTecTec rangefinders that came before it. It can acquire the distance to pins, trees, sand bunkers and water hazards.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is the range of the TecTecTec VPRO 500S?
The TecTecTec VPRO 500S has a maximum range of 540 yards which is the shortest for any of the TecTecTec rangefinders. The 540 yard range of the TecTecTec VPRO 500s is slightly shorter than the 600 yard range of the VPRO DLXS and a lot shorter than the 1000 yard range of the ULT X.
Does the TecTecTec VPRO500S come with Pin Seeker Mode?
Yes this device comes with advanced Pin Seeker Mode for measuring overlapping targets in addition to the distance to flags which are standing in front of wooded areas. Background objects are filtered out to “lock on” to targets with Target Lock Technology.
Does the VPRO500S come with slope technology?
Yes the VPRO500S comes with a slope feature since there is the letter ‘S’ at the end of the model name for this device.
TecTecTec calls slope mode the ‘Closest Distance Object Priority Function.’ This feature will help you acquire the distance to the closest target when multiple targets are in the viewfinder. This feature will acquire the distance to the target by compensating for the elevation change for the shot.
What do you see in the viewfinder for the VPRO500S?
On the LCD screen, you will see the aiming reticule on the middle of the screen. If you turned on slope mode, at the top the screen, you will have the degree of slope. It will be a negative number for a downhill shot and a positive number for an uphill shot. Below the aiming reticule, you will see the slope adjusted distance for the shot. The number near the bottom of the screen, in a smaller font than the slope adjusted distance, is the unadjusted straight line distance to the shot. There is a flag icon near the bottom of the screen indicates that the device has locked onto the flag.
Does the VPRO500 S have an external slope on/off indicator?
No it does not.
How fast is the TecTecTec VPRO500S golf rangefinder?
This rangefinder will give you distance readings within a couple of seconds.
Does the VPRO500 S comply with USGA Rule 14-3?
Yes the VPRO500S enables you to turn off the slope function which allows this device to comply with USGA Rule 14-3 which prohibits any player from using the slope function of any measuring device.
Is the VPRO500 S only rain resistant?
The VPRO500S is only rain resistant so it can only take a light shower. This means if it takes in much more water than that, the device will malfunction.
Does the VPRO500S come with the industry standard 2 Year Warranty?
Yes it does.
