Listed below are the instructions for properly using the Garmin Approach S62 golf watch:
1. The first thing that you need to do is to allow the Garmin Approach S62 to locate the course map of the golf course that you want to play on. Your watch needs to have a clear view of the sky in a location just outside of the golf course in order to properly communicate with the GPS satellites in outer space.
Then select ok on your watch and select start round. Your watch will then locate the GPS satellites and find the nearest golf course to your location. On a clear, sunny day, this entire process will take only between 30 to 60 seconds. If it is cloudy and overcast, the process will take more than a minute.
2. After the watch determines the golf courses closest to your location, the watch will give you a list of the courses closest to you. Select the golf course that you want play to on from the list. Just follow the on-screen instructions from there to complete the setup and start your round. when you step to the tee you will notice the device shows the hole you’re playing you’ll see the whole number part for the hole in the distance to the front middle and back of the green.
3. If you have been provided the pin locations for the day, you can also set the pin location on the watch more accurately. In order to move the pin location on your watch, just select the ok option, then move the flag icon. You can choose up or down to move the pin position to the closest approximation of that day’s pin placement on the putting green.
4. After you crush a drive or other shot, you’ll probably want to know how far you hit it right. The Garmin Approach S62 has built-in auto shot detection that senses and automatically records each shot for post-round analysis. You should wear the watch on your lead wrist to better detect your shots. None of your putts will be detected unless you buy some CT10 club sensors. For more information on this feature, please watch the Garmin auto shot round analyzer tutorial video.
If your watch detects your shot, the shot distance will appear at the top of the display.
If you want to look at the distances of your previous shots, just press the action button on the side of your watch. Then select the ‘Last Shot’ menu item to view the distance for your last shot. There is a ‘View More’ menu item that will show you the shot distances for each shot you took for that hole.
5. When you finish the hole, if scoring is enabled, you’ll be prompted to enter your score where you will enter the number of strokes taken for that hole. Of course, you will also be able to adjust the score manually at any time during a round. If you want to do so, select ok, then choose the scorecard menu item, choose up or down to select the hole and select ok then up or down to set the score, and select ok.
6. As you move to the next tee, the Garmin Approach S62 automatically transitions to the next hole.
