Callaway Hybrid GPS Laser Rangefinder Pros and Cons
The Callaway Hybrid GPS Laser Rangefinders have the same maximum measurement distance to the flagstick (300 yards), maximum measurement distance to hazards or large objects (1000 yards), measurement accuracy (+/- 1 yard) and magnification (6X). There are a lot of differences between the Callaway 300 Pro and Hybrid GPS Laser Rangefinders. The Callaway Hybrid GPS comes with a GPS unit with preloaded course maps and distances to greens and hazards.
Callaway Hybrid GPS Laser Rangefinder comes with 3 scanning modes: Standard Mode, P.A.T. (Pin Acquisition Technology) and Scanning Mode. Align the reticle with the target and press the POWER button to display the distance. Standard mode is for measuring the distance to a target when there is nothing in the background. P.A.T. (Pin Acquisition Technology) Mode measures the distance to a flagstick or smaller object even if there are objects right behind it. The rangefinder will lock in the nearest target and show you the distance measurement. Scan mode is used to measure distances to multiple targets or hazards in succession.
The Callaway Hybrid does not come with Slope Compensation: Both the Bushnell Hybrid and Callaway Hybrid will not compensate distances for any elevation change to the target for either uphill or downhill shots and lets the user know to adjust his or her club selection accordingly.
Only the Callaway Hybrid GPS Laser Rangefinder comes with a BIRDIE feature that delivers an audible “chirp” to confirm distance acquisition to a flagstick: The Callaway Hybrid GPS Laser Rangefinder comes with audible chirp flaglock technology which causes the device to emit an audible chirp after it locks onto the flag.
No Slope Switch Technology: Unfortunately, the Callaway rangefinders do not come with a visible switch to turn off the slope mode like the Bushnell rangefinders do but you can use the mode button to shut off the slope and make the device tournament legal.
Only the Callaway HYBRID Rangefinder combines the pinseeking precision of a laser with the added convenience of GPS – Only the Callaway Hybrid GPS Laser Rangefinder comes with both a laser rangefinder and golf GPS in one compact device. Whether trying to carry a bunker off the tee, hit an approach shot to the middle of the green or firing at the flag, the HYBRID Rangefinder maximizes distance information from tee to green. Everything you need to know before you swing will be displayed right on the easy to read LCD display screen. The GPS is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery that can last up to 10 hours or 2 full rounds on a single charge. The Laser is powered by its own CR2 3V battery and will continue to function even when the GPS battery has drained. P. A. T. (Pin Acquisition Technology) allows this device to quickly and easily lock onto the pin from up to 300 yards away.
