Does the Garmin Approach S62 come with shot tracking?
Yes the Garmin Approach S62 comes with shot tracking. The Garmin Approach S62 comes with an AutoShot round analyzer that has automatic shot detection and tracking. Many of the Garmin golf watches, including the Garmin S62, Garmin S60 Standard and S60 Premium models, Garmin S42, Garmin S40, Garmin X40, and Garmin S20 come with this feature. Although, both the Garmin Approach S60 Premium and S62 have shot tracking, only the S62 has a heart rate monitor and virtual caddie feature.
Unfortunately, the Garmin S10, S12, S6, S5, S4, S3 and Garmin G10 and G12 do not come with this feature. Also none of their handheld devices, including the Garmin G8, G80 and G30 come with this feature.
This shot tracking feature can detect and track your shots (except for putts and chip shots around the green). The Garmin S62 and S60 will enable you to view your shot locations for each hole while you are playing or after the round is over. If you upload your shot information to the Garmin Connect website, then you will be able to get a better view of your shot locations on 2d overhead views for all of the holes on the golf course. The Garmin S40, S42, S20 and X40 golf GPS watches do not have the ability to view your shot locations on the face of the watch like the Garmin S62 and S60 do.
The shot tracking feature will tell you the distance and location of each of the shots that were detected. After the round is over and you sync up your watch to your Garmin connect account, the device will map out the ball distance and location on an aerial course map. You can scroll through each individual hole to see the shot distances and locations for each hole.
This feature allows the Garmin Approach S62 to track shots, measure shot distance and record shot locations for post-round analysis on the Garmin Connect website. It will automatically detect and record your shots along the fairway.
If you want to get better results, then your watch should be worn on the lead wrist. Automatic shot detection will work the best when you make good contact with your ball.
Unfortunately, your putts will most likely not be detected so you will have to manually enter this information into your watch. The Garmin Connect website will enable you to view the shot locations and distances, fairways hit and putts taken for each round. You can even analyze your golf stats over the entire time since you first start recording your stats. Also you can view your swing data for each club that you used for your shots.
